Good afternoon Grade 5/6 students and families! A Message from Mr. Kandola and Ms. Halter: 'Hope you are taking your social distancing seriously like we are.  We know this is a difficult time for everyone but if we stick together, 1-meter apart, we will get through this hard time and persevere! Please continue to check our blog for any updates on how CBE and Cambrian Heights School is moving forward. For now, enjoy your spring break, try to get outside, and stay active!' A Message from Mrs. Kawohl: "I can imagine how scared or uncertain some of you may be feeling, although I am sure some of you are also excited to be getting some time off of school. It is all going to be okay. Remember to take care of yourself so that you are the best version of yourself that you can be for your family and friends during this difficult time. Over the next little while, I will miss all of your stories, your jokes, your smiles, your laughter, your kindness, your out-of-the-b

Suggestions for Learning from Home | K-9

Class cancellations are unusual and challenging events.  During this short period before spring break, we encourage families to maintain a balanced and consistent routine for children; including regular sleeping and eating times, breaks for activity and outdoor time, and healthy boundaries on screen time.    After spring break, additional learning resources and activities will be shared to support students in learning.      Children are naturally curious learners and there are opportunities at home to engage their learning. We have created a  webpage  that offers a variety of educational ideas to support literacy, numeracy and wellness at home for this week. The resources are meant as suggestions only. You may choose to use the links and activities as needed over the next few days as more long-term educational programming is considered.

March 16 - Current Update

Dear Grade 5/6 Families,  We miss seeing our students and families already! We realize you likely have many questions since classes have been cancelled indefinitely. We will be communicating further information to you as soon as we are able, especially in terms of when and how to collect belongings from school. Please continue to check the classroom blog, and your email for updates. In the meantime, please continue to read with your child daily. Below is a resource for reading that you could access if you choose. ** Parents/Guardians: Please sign camp forms and complete payments by Friday. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Mr. Eakins, Ms. Halter or Mrs. Kawohl this week** Students have been exploring the dimensions related to volume through taking on challenges to build different apartment building. Students were told how many apartments had to make up the building and they had to figure out how high, long and wide the building could be using blocks.

OUTDOOR SCHOOL: Please ensure you have signed and returned the Outdoor School Field Trip form by Friday March 6th. There are currently a number of unpaid fees for this trip. Please ensure you have paid the $287.50 fee by Friday March 6th. If you need support doing this or financial assistance, please contact the school and we would be happy to help! Here is our Forecast for Next Week: In Mathematics, we continue to work on developing an understanding of the relationship between area, perimeter and volume. We will be looking specifically at volume next week and how this applies to the real world! In Humanities, we will be continuing to work on script writing. We will be viewing a Heritage Minute related to maple syrup in Canada. The teachers have created a script to share with the students to model how the description and dialogue should look. These scripts will be used alongside the puppets we have been creating with Wendy. SYRUP HERITAGE MINUTE:  https://www.historicacanad
