Week 13 Update

Yesterday, we gave the students a nearly impossible word problem to figure out. Many of the students said they went home and shared it with their families. We thought we would include it on here for those of you who who didn't get the opportunity to work it out. According to Albert Einstein, only 98% of the world can solve this problem! Who Owns the Fish? There are five houses in a row and in five different colors. In each house lives a person from a different country. Each person drinks a certain drink, plays a certain sport, and keeps a certain pet. No two people drink the same drink, play the same sport, or keep the same pet. The Brit lives in a red house. The Swede keeps dogs. The Dane drinks tea. The green house is on the left of the white house. The green house owner drinks coffee. The person who plays polo breeds birds. The owner of the yellow house plays hockey. The man living in the house right in the centre drinks milk. The Nor

Upcoming Lockdown Drill

RE: LOCKDOWN PRACTICE & Safety Procedures   November 28, 2019    Dear Cambrian Heights School Families,    The safety of all students and staff of  Cambrian Heights School  is of great importance. To that end, we have been working to establish appropriate safety measures for the various situations that may occur and affect our staff and students. Fire drills are a long-standing expectation of everyone who congregates in a setting such as a school. We are required to have a minimum of six fire drills each school year. Our students and staff treat each drill as though it was the real thing and we are very proud of their performance during those drills. Teachers keep class lists with them during all drills and attendance is always taken. Parents or other visitors are expected to evacuate the building when the fire alarm is sounded.    It is a reflection of the changes in our society that we must add variations to our safety drills. We are going to  practice  a drill k

Confederation Park Field Trip

Hello Grade 5/6 Families, On Thursday December 5th from 9:00 - 11:45 am, students will be walking to Confederation Park. We will be investigating the wind conditions, sky conditions, as well as the existing wetland in the park.   A letter was sent home earlier this year regarding the walking policy for Cambrian Heights School. Since Confederation Park is within the walking limits, no paperwork needs to be signed.  Some potential hazards we will need to be aware of are: slips, trips and falls due to slipper and/or icy conditions walking to and from Confederation Park, getting separated from the group, street crossings, and existing medical conditions and/or allergies.  We are still in need of at least two more volunteers for this field trip. To volunteer, you must have a full police clearance with the CBE. If you have any questions about how to get clearance or wonder if you are fully cleared, please call Jennifer Boyce in the office to confirm.  If you are willing and able to
