Going forward, every month, one literacy and one math task will be coming home either in the form of IRIS or a paper copy so students can share their learning with you.

Here is an explanation of the tasks we will be sending home for November.

LITERACY
Students have been hard at work learning how to write newspaper articles. We have had many opportunities to peer-review, self-edit and rewrite our articles based on ongoing feedback. By the end of the day tomorrow, students will have all posted on IRIS:
  • a video explaining their self-reflection of the newspaper article writing process
  • a photo, sharing their learning intention and how they are feeling on our learning target.
  • a video of them reading their "just right" book out loud.

Students will be learning how to self-assess their own reading and setting short term goals each month to achieve

After logging into IRIS and viewing your child's work, please comment on one of their posts.

MATH
Students have been learning about ordering and comparing decimals, adding and subtracting decimals. Now we are learning how to use flyers and figure out the product based on a given quantity of each item we choose to buy. Students are required to multiply a whole number by a decimal.

Please look for this worksheet in your child's backpack on Thursday evening!
