Here are our upcoming plans for next week!
Please remember, Wednesday, Feb 26 is PINK SHIRT DAY!  

Math: We will continue to work on shape and space by focusing on volume. Using new and old division and multiplication strategies we learned, we will work on solving for volume and missing information of different 2D and 3D shapes.  


Literacy: We will be exploring script writing to learn how dialogue in narrative writing can live in another format. Script writing and dialogue follow different rules but both can effectively tell the reader a lot about the character. 
 

Social Studies: We will be working in small groups to create scripts that will tell the stories of some prominent figures in our Canadian history such as Viola Desmond and John McCrae. 
Science: We will begin our new Science unit on Evidence and Investigation! The clock is ticking and we're running out of time! Student's will be given a crime only they can solve and bring resolve to the community!

Orange Shirt Day will be recognized by Cambrian Heights School on Thursday October 3, 2019 Students that are interested can wear orange to show that Every Child Matters. Orange Shirt Day recognizes the harm the residential school system did to children’s sense of self-esteem and wellbeing, and as an affirmation of our commitment to ensure that everyone around us matters. Yesterday we looked at the importance of doing a land acknowledgement. We read CBE’s statement of acknowledging the land where we gather. Good afternoon Grade 5/6 students and families! A Message from Mr. Kandola and Ms. Halter: 'Hope you are taking your social distancing seriously like we are.  We know this is a difficult time for everyone but if we stick together, 1-meter apart, we will get through this hard time and persevere! PLEASE SEE THE FOLLOWING NOTICE REGARDING CONFERENCES AND STUDENT WORK SAMPLES. Dear families, We hope you have received the SchoolMessenger that was sent on Tuesday afternoon regarding conference bookings. The Grade 5/6 team of Mr. Kandola, Ms. Halter, and Mrs. Kawohl are looking forward to meeting with you.   Please book a conference time with your child’s “base camp” (homeroom) teacher. If you are not sure who this is, please let us know! You could email us or call the office. Please note the availabilities below: Mrs. Kawohl and Ms. Halter will be available for conference times on Thursday, December 5 between 3:00 and 8:00, and Friday December 6 between 8:00 and 1:00.
